TAFA Calls for Permanent Telehealth Protections as CMS Issues CY 2023 Medicare PFS Final Rule

TAFA Commends Limited Behavioral Telehealth Protections, Urges Swift Congressional Action to Safeguard Access to Virtual Care in All Forms, Including Audio-Only

Washington, D.C. – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement in response to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) final rule on the CY 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule released on Tuesday, November 1.  

“Telehealth Access for America commends the Biden administration for their commitment to supporting access to telehealth, especially for behavioral care,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Mirich. “We look forward to reviewing details of the PFS, but this final rule is a stark reminder that urgent action from Congress is necessary to permanently protect access to telehealth, in all forms including audio-only, for the millions of patients who have come to rely on virtual care and who face uncertainty and a potential telehealth cliff.”
