Telehealth Access for America Applauds Members of Congress for Acting to Avert Telehealth Cliff

Encourages Policymakers to Build on Unprecedented Bipartisan Momentum in the New Year with Permanent Reforms to Safeguard Access to Telehealth

Washington, D.C. – Telehealth Access for America issued the following statement after Congress passed, and President Biden signed into law, a two-year extension of critical telehealth flexibilities as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 on Thursday. 

“Telehealth Access for America applauds members of Congress for acting to avert the telehealth cliff and extending critical flexibilities for virtual care for two years,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Mirich. “We thank members of Congress, in both parties, and the Biden administration for their commitment to protecting access to virtual care for the millions of patients who have come to rely on these vital services to manage their health.”

“We encourage lawmakers and the administration to build on the unprecedented, bipartisan momentum for telehealth in the new year with reforms to permanently safeguard access to virtual care,” Mirich continued. “Permanently protecting access to telehealth will be critical to supporting a stronger health care future for millions of patients.”
