Telehealth Access for America Commends Policymakers for Working Across Party Lines on Permanent Solutions to Protect Telehealth Access for Patients
During a U.S. Senate Finance Committee Hearing Wednesday, Chairman Wyden, Ranking Member Crapo, and Secretary Becerra Renew Calls for Permanent Telehealth Protections
Washington, D.C. – Telehealth Access for America issued the following statement in response to renewed calls for permanent telehealth protections from Chairman Ron Wyden, Ranking Member Mike Crapo, and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra during a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing on the HHS Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Request Wednesday.
“Telehealth Access for America commends policymakers, including Chairman Wyden and Ranking Member Crapo for, in their words, ‘working very closely together’ to permanently safeguard access to virtual care during Wednesday’s Senate Finance hearing. We also thank Secretary Becerra for renewing his commitment to working with Congress and the administration to protect telehealth,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Mirich.
“The bipartisan momentum to protect telehealth access for the millions of patients who rely on it remains steady. As the nearing end of the public health emergency reminds us of the fragility of virtual care access, the need for action could not be more urgent,” continued Mirich. “The end of 2024 will be here before we know it, and patients need certainty that vital health care access they need will still be available. We continue to urge Congress to turn this momentum into action,” concluded Mirich.
