Campaign Encourages Lawmakers to Capitalize on Bipartisan Support for Virtual Care, Provide Long-Term Certainty Without Onerous Restrictions

Washington, D.C – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement ahead of a markup of legislation on telehealth scheduled for Wednesday in the U.S. House Committee on Ways & Means.

“Telehealth Access for America commends Chairman Smith (R-MO-08) and Ranking Member Neal (D-MA-01) for recognizing the critical urgency to protect access to virtual care for millions of seniors, without onerous restrictions, and avert a potential telehealth cliff for consumers,” said TAFA executive director Alye Mlinar. “This markup represents a critical next step for Congress to capitalize on the strong bipartisan support for telehealth.”

“Patients, especially seniors, are counting on Congress to pass an extension of critical flexibilities that provides enough long-term certainty to avoid disruptions that would negatively impact health outcomes and without burdensome restrictions that would undermine the value of virtual care,” Mlinar added.
