TAFA Congratulates New House E&C Health Subcommittee Chairman Morgan Griffith
Campaign Commends Griffith for Track Record of Support for Permanent Telehealth Solutions
Washington, D.C. – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement congratulating U.S. Representative Morgan Griffith (R-VA-09) after he was named chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Health last week.
“We congratulate Chairman Griffith on his elevation to lead the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and commend his longstanding support for permanent solutions to safeguard patient access to critical telehealth services,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Howell. “Millions of seniors in the U.S. rely on access to telehealth made possible by Medicare flexibilities that are once again set to expire in September. We encourage Chairman Griffith and the full committee to urgently prioritize permanent solutions to avert a telehealth cliff and provide patients and providers the permanent certainty necessary to unlock the full potential of virtual care.”
Chairman Griffith has a track record of support for the critical role of telehealth.
“We may have some differences on how we do it, but we all agree that telehealth is here to stay and that is a marvelous asset,” Griffith, who represents a rural Virginia District, said in April 2024. “I’ve got a lot of friends on the committee who are right in lockstep with me on this.”
“Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services should act to make expanded telehealth permanent,” Griffith wrote in a June 2022 post.
