Alliance for Connected Care Poll Finds 75 Percent of the U.S. Public Agrees Consumers Should Have Access to Virtual Care After the Pandemic

Washington, D.C. – In case you missed it, the Alliance for Connected Care, a Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) member, released a survey Wednesday that found overwhelming support for continued telehealth access and flexibilities among the general public, patients, and health care practitioners. The survey underscores the broad, overwhelming support for telehealth access and need for congressional action to protect access to virtual care, with three in four Americans agreeing that patients should have the option to receive care via telehealth even after the pandemic.

The survey also found 96 percent of health care practitioners believe virtual care expands patient health care access and 91 percent of health care practitioners agreed that they should be able to provide care virtually post-pandemic. Further, as the pandemic strains our health care workforce, the survey emphasized a high level of support for telehealth among healthcare workers, with 78 percent of health care practitioners agreeing that being able to provide telehealth services from practitioner-convenient locations would “significantly reduce the challenges of stress, burnout, or fatigue.”

The benefits of telehealth and support from patients and providers alike are clear, as is the need for Congress to permanently protect access to virtual care and its benefits.
