ICYMI: September 17th-23rd Is Telehealth Awareness Week
The American Telemedicine Association Celebrates the Benefits of Virtual Care
In case you missed it, this week we celebrate the American Telemedicine Association’s (ATA) Telehealth Awareness Week! Telehealth Awareness Week is a time to reflect and share stories on the immense benefits brought to patients and providers through virtual care access.
Through telehealth programs, millions can access low-cost, safe, and equitable care. ATA is amplifying these benefits during its third annual Telehealth Awareness Week with several national and regional events, including webinars and the distribution of educational resources highlighting the benefits of telehealth. These events focus on a range of topics including federal telehealth policy, the role of telehealth in health care systems, the future of virtual care technology and best telehealth practices.
Policymakers have also taken notice of the occasion, Representatives Bill Johnson (R-OH-6), Mike Thompson (D-CA-4), John Curtis (R-UT-3), and Doris Matsui (D-CA-7) introduced legislation to formally recognize Telehealth Awareness Week. We urge Congress to act on this building momentum and safeguard telehealth access permanently.
