Senate Finance Subcommittee on Health Care Hearing Showcases Bipartisan Consensus on the Value of Virtual Care

Washington, D.C – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance Subcommittee on Health Care hearing today, “Ensuring Medicare Beneficiary Access: A Path to Telehealth Permanency.”

“We applaud Chairman Cardin (D-MD), Ranking Member Daines (R-MT), and members of the subcommittee for shining a light on the urgent need to permanently safeguard access to telehealth for Medicare beneficiaries and contributing to the bipartisan support for telehealth,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Mirich. “In just a few weeks, millions of seniors will be within a year of potentially losing access to virtual care they have come to rely on.”

“Today’s hearing showcased the overwhelming consensus on the value of telehealth from both sides of the aisle,” Mirich continued. “Congress must deliver peace of mind to patients and help unleash the full potential of telehealth by making flexibilities that support access to virtual care permanent, without onerous restrictions.”
