TAFA Commends Administration for PHE Extension, Reiterates Call for Permanent Telehealth Protections
Congress Must Act to Safeguard Access to Virtual Care
Washington, D.C – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement in response to a three-month extension of the public health emergency (PHE) by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Wednesday.
“Telehealth Access for America commends Secretary Becerra and the administration for the extension of the public health emergency that provides additional temporary protection from a telehealth cliff and gives Congress more time to advance critical reforms to permanently safeguard access to virtual care,” said TAFA spokesperson Julia Mirich.
“Lawmakers must act now, while temporary protections are in place, to capitalize on the unprecedented momentum for action. U.S. voters overwhelmingly support permanent solutions to protect access to telehealth and are watching closely to see whether Congress will act.”
