TAFA Statement in Support of Two-Year Telehealth Extension as Part of Continuing Resolution
As Deadline Looms, Campaign Calls for Urgent Extension and Encourages Congress to Work Toward Permanent Solution
Washington, D.C – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement Tuesday in response to the inclusion of a two-year extension of current Medicare telehealth flexibilities in the proposed continuing resolution.
“With just two weeks left until the expiration of current telehealth flexibilities, we express our gratitude to lawmakers for making telehealth protections a priority in the end-of-year budget negotiations. We fully support the proposed two-year extension of telehealth Medicare flexibilities in the current continuing resolution,” said Alye Mlinar, the executive director of TAFA.
“Our end goal is for telehealth flexibilities to become permanent policy. This two-year extension would help ensure that the millions of patients and providers who rely on virtual care can continue to do so and that innovations and investments in virtual care remain. We encourage Congress to swiftly pass this short-term extension of telehealth flexibilities as they continue to work toward a long-term solution,” Mlinar concluded.
