Telehealth Access for America: Proposed Physician Fee Schedule Rule Underscores Urgency for Significant Extension of Critical Telehealth Flexibilities in Congress
Lawmakers Must Deliver on Bipartisan Commitment to Protect Access to Telehealth, Prevent Uncertainty from Holding Back Full Potential for Patients
Washington, D.C – Telehealth Access for America (TAFA) issued the following statement Thursday in response to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) CY2025 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule.
“CMS’ CY2025 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule reflects the scheduled end of the telehealth flexibilities that seniors and consumers have come to depend on. This underscores the critical urgency for Congress to protect access to virtual care, and provides a stark reminder that uncertainty has a chilling effect that can hold back the full potential of telehealth for patients,” said TAFA executive director Alye Mlinar. “With millions of patients less than 175 days from a potential telehealth cliff, lawmakers must maintain their strong, bipartisan commitment to a significant extension of critical flexibilities for virtual care.”
